This hanging artwork draws inspiration from Qing dynasty imperial "qinggong" still-life motifs, crafted using a combination of panjin (gold-thread wrapping stitch) and flat stitch techniques, iconic to the royal heritage of Su Embroidery. Created by a master embroiderer over three months, it is set against a rich vermilion silk satin background. The motifs of flower vases and paired fish are rendered in indigo silk threads, then outlined and accented with double strands of gold thread, carefully secured with tiny stitches spaced no more than 2mm apart for a flawless, fluid line. Panjin stitch, once favored in imperial court embroidery, requires the artisan to meticulously anchor each segment of gold thread to prevent shifting. Complementing this, the flat stitch uses dozens of blue thread shades to depict the subtle layers of porcelain and flower petals, balancing the rigidity of gold with the softness of silk. The piece embodies the auspicious wish for abundance ("niannian youyu") and the luxurious aesthetic of Qing court embroidery, with the gold threads shimmering under light to reveal the core tenets of Su Embroidery: evenness, neatness, fineness, and density.
