Colorful Butterfly & Peony Peking Stitch Suzhou Embroidery Wall Hanging 彩蝶牡丹打籽绣苏绣挂画
61*42*2.5cm ,Golden Teak
This hanging artwork draws inspiration from the butterfly and peony motifs of Qing dynasty sleeve embroidery, crafted using the dazi (seed stitch) technique of Su Embroidery over three months of handwork. Set against a bronze-toned jacquard silk satin background, the peonies are rendered with pink, blue, and purple silk threads, each seed carefully placed to create soft color gradients across the petals. The butterfly wings are formed with colored seeds and outlined with gold thread, lending a lively contrast to the blooms. The granular texture of dazi stitch gives the piece a sculptural, almost three-dimensional quality, with over 120 seeds per square centimeter. The artisan repeated the delicate motions of looping and stitching day after day to recreate the rich texture and layering of antique embroidery. Durable and colorfast, this piece is a unique heritage work of art with both decorative and collectible value.
