Peonies of Prosperity Peking Stitch Suzhou Embroidery Hanging Scroll 富贵牡丹打籽绣苏绣挂画
57*34*2.5cm ,Golden Teak
This hanging artwork reimagines peony motifs from Qing dynasty sleeve embroidery using the traditional dazi (seed stitch) technique of Su Embroidery, a national intangible cultural heritage. Set against a pale moon-white silk satin background, over ten thousand silk thread "seeds" are stitched entirely by hand by a master artisan, blending the opulence of peonies with the auspicious symbolism of bat patterns. The petals are rendered with a gradient of threads, transitioning softly from blush pink to deep indigo, while the seeds forming the flower centers appear plump and dewy. The texture of the leaves is brought to life through carefully spaced stitches. The piece took nearly two months to complete, with the artisan meticulously controlling the size and sheen of every seed. The result is a work with sculptural depth and a silky luster, capturing the timeless elegance of "blooming prosperity" in a heritage-quality heirloom.
